Our Staff

Karen

Manager / SENDCo

NVQ Level 3
National Level 3 SENDCo Award
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
First Aider
Domestic Abuse Champion

Hello, my name is Karen and I have been working at New Millside for over 15 years, starting as an Assistant and now Manager, SENDCo and Deputy DSO.

I have 3 children ranging from 41 to 24 years old and 5 grandchildren age 19 to 7 months.  Three of my grandchildren attended New Millside and my youngest daughter also attended.
I think this gives me a great understanding of the concerns, wishes, aspirations and needs from all perspectives.  I am committed to the idea of ‘every child is a unique child’ and am passionate about getting to know fully every child at New Millside, so that I can help them to feel completely safe and understood.  I feel strongly that a positive first experience of education is essential and at this age that means a place where you feel acknowledged, praised and encouraged.

I have a Diploma Level 3 in Childcare & Development and have attended a variety of Management training courses including achieving Excellence in the Early Years, I hold the National Level 3 SENDCo Award, Designated Safeguarding Officer training, Advanced Speech & Language training and a variety of child development courses including English as an Additional Language and Makaton, Paediatric First Aid & Epilepsy. I have completed levels 1 to 3 in Autism Awareness which includes managing a setting and teaching autism awareness and have achieved the AET Impact Award Embedding the AET Standards Framework in the Early Years. I have a good basic understanding of French and Spanish.

My name is Nazia and I have been working at New Millside Preschool since 2013. I started working at New Millside as a lunch club assistant and worked my way up to being full time and as a health and safety officer. This was my first job in this profession when I left college and I love it. I haven’t many nieces and nephews so I have lots of experience in being with children.
